Madeleine Loney, Class of 2011

University: University of Louisville

Madeleine Loney graduated from the Culver Academies in Culver, IN. At the University of Louisville, she plans on majoring in Psychology with a minor in Anthropology and Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies, and later plans to attend law school for International Law. She spent her junior year of high school abroad in Italy through SYA, a program that sends students overseas to live with host families and learn the language and culture of another country. While in Italy, she tutored students in English; after returning for her senior year, she also tutored in Humanities and Writing. She played volleyball, fencing, and lacrosse, in addition to writing for the literary magazine and school newspaper. She was a student representative for the Disciplinary Committee and the Fundraising Chair for the Leadership Committee for Africa. She also volunteered during the summer at Redwood, a daycare in northern Kentucky for children with and without disabilities. While at the University of Louisville, she is involved in Freshman LEAD, Global Initiative Committee, Relay for Life, Anthropology Student Association. Additionally, she is as a tutor for elementary school children and volunteers in a community high school mentoring program.
