Akash Gupta, Class of 2009

Akash Gupta graduated from St. Xavier High School in Louisville. He is a pre-medicine student planning to major in Spanish. He was accepted into UofL's Guaranteed Entrance to Medical School (GEMS) program, an initiative that guarantees admission to the UofL School of Medicine to top students from Kentucky. Akash competed on his school's Quick Recall Team for four years and served as starter and captain. He was a Governor's Scholar, AP Scholar, and a National Merit Scholar. He was founder and president of St. X's Environmental Club and president of its Future Business Leaders of America chapter. Akash received the WLKY Bell Youth Service Honor in recognition of his volunteer service, which included attending to the needs of patients and staff at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.
