Jessica Nelson, Class of 2009

Jessica Nelson graduated from Tates Creek Senior High School in Lexington. She plans to major in physics with a concentration in pre-medicine. This former Governor's Scholar is member of the National Honor Society and served as chapter secretary her junior and senior years. She was active with her school's Y Club and was a member of the color guard throughout high school, serving as captain her last two years. Jessica was named the State Farm Fayette County Scholar of the Month in 2007 and received the University of Kentucky Book Award in 2008 for outstanding service to her school and community. She played on her school's Ultimate Frisbee team for two years and volunteered with Central Kentucky Riding for Hope, which provides therapeutic equestrian activities for disabled children and adults.
