Centre College |

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from South Oldham High School in Crestwood, KY and received the UPS James Casey Foundation Scholarship and the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship. I have not yet declared a major, but plan to explore anthropology, art history, Spanish, and math at Centre College.
At SOHS, I was academic team co-president, the Spanish Honor Society secretary, and a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and the Junior/Senior Advisory Boards. I’ve played the oboe for several years, and was first chair oboe in the Louisville Honors Band and Principle Oboe in the Louisville Youth Repertory Orchestra.
After overcoming dyslexia, I discovered a love for writing, and participated in the University of Virginia’s Young Writers Workshop, summer 2007. I attended Kentucky’s Governor’s Scholars Program in 2008.
In my free time, I became a second-degree black belt and volunteered for Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) of Louisville, KY. As a Girl Scout for 12 years, I served as a camp counselor, Press Corps member, and board member of the Kentuckiana Board of Directors. I achieved my Gold Award in 2008, creating the Kentucky Autism Awareness specialty license plate, for which I received FEAT’s “Contributing Piece” Award and was bestowed the honor of Kentucky Colonel.
Testimonial
I am ecstatic about the opportunities provided by the Brown Fellows Scholarship - the overseas study, the leadership development and the relationships fostered between the Fellows, in particular. Receiving this scholarship made my ultimate college decision effortless, due in part to the incredible monetary component! I am certain that the connections, skills, and horizon-expanding opportunities offered by the Brown Fellows Scholarship will prove to be the foundation of all my future endeavors.
